WEBNov 29, 2023 · The 15w-40 choices are perhaps a tad less likely to shear than the T6. Not because of the brand, but because of a 15-40w versus a 5w-40, and so the 15w has less VIIs. That would be true of any brand you'd compare/contrast, presuming similar base stock (s) are present. You have zero need for a 5w rated diesel oil in CA.

WEBJul 19, 2006 · Steelers. You may experience a fuel mileage hit and the engine may feel sluggish. Given the high quality of 20 and 30 weight oils there's really no reason to use a 15w-40 in a non-diesel passenger car. A large, older push rod V8 could benefit from the thicker viscosity, if its consuming oil, and the beefer add pack.

To confirm this claim, I contacted Shell and received a response stating that the formulation for Rotella T4 15W40 was upgraded to a synthetic blend in January of this year (2021).

Estimate 9.99 to 18.99 per gallon. --W40 Syn oil = Good choice for Air cooled engine IE: Easy to pull start in cold weather. Still a good option for liquid cooled engine however you have a block heater so Syn not an absolute must have.

WEBMay 18, 2004 · In the truck I mix 9 qts of Delvac 15w-40 and 3 qts of Mobil 1 T&S 5w-40, so there shouldn't be a problem with the 40 weight, and thinner than an assumed 12.5 is fine for better cold starts. In the cars I mix 1 qt of Mobil 1 T&S 5w-40 with either 4 qts of Mobil 5w-30 or Mobil 10w-30, so thinner is again fine.

WEBOct 21, 2021 · The only issues I have being an OTR driver is there seems to be a huge price difference in getting the T5 and T6 oil changes compared to T4. It seems to average about $175-$225 more for the higher grade synthetics compared to T4.

WEBMay 25, 2016 · cj-4 oil are designed for engine with total sulfur content of max .5 %. First of all, the API CJ-4 diesel fuel sulfur content limit is 0.05%, not 0.5%. 0.05% = 500 ppm. And this limit is specifically related to diesel fuel, not gasoline. Second of all, today's diesel and gasoline has sulfur content which is significantly below this 500 ppm limit.
