WEBMar 17, 2016 · On my jeep I measured 15" behind the above cut and scribes the location to prep for cutting. The cut is located just forward of the wheel arch'd highest point. '84 CJ-17: 17" stretch, locked Toy axles, 5.5" lift, FI, AX15, D300 w/twin sticks, boatsides & junk. I think this is going to be well worth watching!

WEBJul 7, 2021 · It's an access problem. Probably need to cut a hole to remove the damage and then depending on how it was originally either weld a nut the the repair patch or some have a 1/4" steel square with a nut welded to it. The square can wiggle around a bit to help line things up when assembling.

Many people modify their jeeps in the way they want to. Many of them do it out of necessity, but some because that's the way they want it.

So if your Jeep were rolling go to right rear tire and at top-center of the tire go back about 3" towards rear of vehicle and find that location straight ahead on frame (top of frame).

The TJ came from a Jeep that rolled over destroying all of the sheet metal, but leaving the frame and drive train unphased. The CJ7 is a barn find from Atascadero.

WEBMar 3, 2013 · A CJ7 has a 93.3" wheelbase. A scrambler has 103" wheelbase. So you need to add 9.7" to the straight section ahead of the rear spring hangers. As for the rear, add up dimensions G, H & S from the pic above for both a CJ7 (135.83") and a CJ8 (159.69").

I know a few peeps who have swapped in the AMC 401 into thier CJ's without issue and they are also a torque monster. Trail ridding won't be putting as much stress on the frame as would rock climbing.

WEBDec 8, 2009 · Yes it will be an issue. I believe you are referring to body mounts #1 and they are longer due to the taper of the frame as it narrows towards the front engine area. Body mounts #2 & 3, which are behind #1, will be the same size. The small holes are from the Budd Company who built the frames for AMC back in the day.
