WEBApr 26, 2003 · Personally I'd say a '77, '78 or '79 CJ7. - #1 with any jeep look for rust, espically on the frame around the rear spring mounts. - 304v8 or I6 both are good engines. - Watch for one with a T18 4 speed, stock you could have ~45:1 crawl. 1977.5 - changed from drums to the BIG discs.

The spring perches for the Chevy axle are probably for a 2-1/2" spring. If you are going to outboard your spring hangers you should consider using a different set of springs.
