wow, i can see how the reviewer broke her toe. this is a very difficult walk. most of the bottom is irregularly covered with 6" to 8" loose slippery rocks. too small to balance on, easy to slip off. … Full review by jonnyss
If I get an inflatable raft to put my son and cooler on, will it be easy for me to pull or push the raft along while I walk to Goat Island? And if low tide is in the early part of the day, is it safe to walk back in the afternoon? Going in June. Also - is there any kind of rental shop close by to rent rafts/boats/kayak??

I was there last Sunday (27 October 2019). I walked over wearing tennis shoes and my backpack tied up in a trash bag and placed in the middle of small circle tube. I went about 3 hours after low tide and it was an easy walk, with no more than 3-4 feet of water. I stayed all day and had the entire island to myself. Did not stray from the left side beach due to 1000s of nesting Shearwater birds. Some nest almost on the beach. The walk back was difficult as high tide had occurred and it was only about 1 1/2 hours after the high tide. Water was 5-6 feet deep and I walked when I could, swam when I had to, and was sometimes just moved wherever the waves wanted me.
