Online sales across U.S. retailers rose 9.9% to $7.9 billion on Tuesday, the first day of Amazon Prime Day sales, as shoppers across the country looked to snap up products at steep discounts, according to Adobe Analytics.

Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime Day online shopping extravaganza got off to a record-setting start Tuesday, and without much of an assist from inflation. The day saw $7.9 billion in spending, up 9.9% from the same day last year, according to data compiled by Adobe Analytics, which tracks the annual event.

The first four-day-long Prime Day sale, is expected to generate as much spending as two Black Fridays, Adobe reports today, with AI tools and influencers driving growth.
