Gov. Katie Hobbs has ironed out a vetting process that her top aides said will continue when it comes to appointing Arizona's next justice.

Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs may get a chance to name three justices to the Arizona Supreme Court. Robert Brutinel, who had been named to the court in 2010 by then-Gov. Jan Brewer, announced Tuesday he is going to retire at the end of October.

Justice Robert Brutinel will retire from the Arizona Supreme Court at the end of October, he announced Tuesday. His retirement means that Gov. Katie Hobbs will get to appoint his replacement, the first Democrat to appoint a justice to the high court in more than 15 years.
