Arjun Erigaisi has officially crossed the 2800-Elo barrier in classical chess rating, according to the FIDE Rating released on Sunday.

In a stunning accomplishment, 21-year-old Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi became the second Indian to ever acquire the coveted 2800 Elo rating in classical chess. He is now a member of this select group, joining the likes of Viswanathan Anand.

Arjun Erigaisi has officially surpassed the 2800-Elo mark in classical chess ratings, as announced by the FIDE Rating on Sunday. At 21, he is the 16th player ever to reach this milestone and the second Indian after the five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand.

Arjun Erigaisi has become only the second Indian Grandmaster, after Viswanathan Anand, to surpass the Elo Rating of 2800. Arjun currently has an Elo rating of 2801 and is ranked fourth in the world.

Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi on Sunday (December 1, 2024) became the second Indian after legendary Viswanathan Anand and 16th worldwide to reach the gold-standard ELO rating of 2800, while also occupying the fourth spot in the latest rankings.

Erigaisi now has 2801 rating points for the fourth sport, just below Hikaru Nakamura (2802) of USA, Fabiano Caruana (2805) of the USA, and Norwegian Magnus Carlsen (2831)
