Several social media posts and reports by Indian news outlets claim that the lawyer defending ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was hacked to death in Bangladesh during recent violence in Chattogram.

ISKCON Bhubaneswar expressed concerns over the safety of minorities and devotees in Bangladesh. They held prayer meetings for global peace. ISKCON monks including Chinmoy Krishna Das were arrested by Bangladeshi authorities.

Several organisations took out rallies in different parts of West Bengal on Sunday to protest against atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh and demanded immediate release of Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in the neighbouring country.

A day after the second Hindu monk, Shyam Das Prabhu, was arrested in Bangladesh, two other disciples of arrested spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das have also gone missing in Chattogram, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Saturday.

The arrest of a Hindu leader in Dhaka has been "misconstrued" and he was arrested on specific charges, Bangladesh has told a UN forum on minority issues, claiming that there has been no systematic attack on minorities in the country.

New Delhi expressed concern over the monk's arrest and denial of bail and asked Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities. India on Friday said the interim government in Bangladesh must live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities as it expressed serious concern over the "surge" of extremist rhetoric and increasing incidents of violence against Hindus as well as attacks on temples.

Two Iskcon priests were arrested in Bangladesh amidst rising tensions within the Hindu community. Radharamn Das, Iskcon Kolkata vice president, confirmed the arrests and reported that an Iskcon center in Bhairav was also vandalized.
