The controversial property-tax shift bill that has driven months of debate will not receive a vote in the Senate, the chamber's top Democrat announced Monday night, hours after the bill had been derailed.

The Boston City Council will convene Wednesday afternoon for the first time since Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson was arrested last week on federal corruption charges. The councilor is accused of orchestrating a kickback scheme with a relative hired to her staff.
