Former University of Wyoming football coach Dana Dimel was a popular figure while coaching the Pokes from 1997-1999. He died Tuesday at the age of 62.

Illinois assistant coach Dana Dimel, who was an All-American offensive tackle for Kansas State and later the head coach at Wyoming, Houston and UTEP, died Tuesday.

A longtime offensive coordinator under Bill Snyder at his alma mater Kansas State, Dana Dimel served this past season as an assistant at Illinois.
