The fire Saturday morning killed a man, whose wife and children were out of the country, and two of their dogs. A third dog was taken to an animal hospital.

After putting out the flames, the fire crew found a fatally injured man — the 48-year-old owner of the home — inside the garage, per KTLA and CBS News. Two of the family’s dogs were also found dead, while another unresponsive dog was taken to an animal hospital.

One person and two pets were killed Saturday in a garage fire at a single-story home in La Habra, authorities said.

La Habra, authorities said. Firefighters dispatched at 10:38 a.m. to the 1300 block of Farrington Drive, a few blocks north of Whittier Boulevard, had the fire out at 11:10 a.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
