Singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus has donated $10,000 so transgender people can receive gender-affirming surgeries. The donation comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order saying that the federal government will only recognize two genders, male and female.

Lucy Dacus is giving away $10,000 for trans people to use toward gender-affirming surgery. The “Night Shift” singer posted to X on Wednesday morning asking people to respond with links to crowdfunding campaigns for gender-affirming surgery, and promising to “give away 10k in $500 increments until it’s gone.”

Dacus has historically been a strong proponent of trans rights, with she and her boygenius bandmates having taken a stand against anti-2SLGBTQQIA+ legislation that banned drag in the state of Tennessee back in 2023.
