Apple’s new M4 Max is the fastest CPU on the market, and we haven’t even seen M4 Ultra
Apple unveiled its new MacBook Pro models this week, with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chipsets. The new M4 Pro chip in the Mac mini already showed some very promising results, making it the fastest Mac ever. However, M4 Max takes it to an all new level, and performs among the highest end PC chips on the market.

M4 Max benchmark confirms the new MacBook Pro is the most powerful Mac ever
The M4 Pro outperforms the M2 Ultra in single-core and multi-core tests. I said earlier that the M4 Max chip, currently exclusive to the 2024 MacBook Pro models, will be the only Apple chip to top the M4 Pro. That was always going to be the case.

M4 Pro and M4 Max benchmark results revealed — they blow away Intel, AMD and Qualcomm
As you can see, M4 Pro and M4 Max gets a healthy bump over its M3 counterparts, and even a $4,000 gaming PC in the MSI Aegis. That means this chip in a $1,399 Mac mini is more powerful than the Ultra in a system that is over twice the price!

M4 Pro and M4 Max benchmarks just leaked — the new MacBook Pro should terrify Windows laptops
The M4 Pro beating the M2 Ultra is impressive because the Mac mini housing the former starts at $1,599, while the Mac Studio housing the latter is a staggering $3,999. In other words, Apple is offering nearly the same level of performance from a very recent high-end desktop computer in a much smaller device that costs just over half as much.

Apple’s M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max compared to past generations, and to each other
The M4 Max still looks like a good upgrade compared with the M2 Max, with up to four additional high-performance CPU cores, a higher maximum RAM capacity, and two additional GPU cores. But again, it looks like the increased memory bandwidth could drive most of the GPU performance increases.
