Despite awkward slam into bench door frame, Matt Poitras will be ready to go Saturday when Bruins visit Penguins
The Bruins had to go without Matt Poitras on the third line in the third period of a 2-1 loss to the Islanders Thursday night. But Poitras plans to be available when the Bruins visit the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday, having recovered from a freak incident in which he slammed into the Islanders’ bench door frame.
Because of that, when Nelson hit Poitras, the Bruins forward’s leg slammed into the corner of the open door-mouth instead of the flat boards. Poitras headed to the dressing room and didn’t return.
