This simplification is evident if you visit Microsoft’s Surface website, where the only two choices of devices you’re presented with are the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. If you dig a little deeper, you’ll still find the Surface Go 4 on sale for businesses, nearly two years after it was first announced alongside the Surface Laptop Studio 2.

Microsoft has continued to design, manufacture, and sell new Surface hardware since longtime team leader Panos Panay left the company for Amazon in late 2023, including both Intel- and Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro tablets and Surface Laptops. New smaller versions of both of these mainstays were introduced just a couple of weeks ago.

The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are lighter and thinner, with pared-down specs, but the 2024 models are better and available for the same prices, if not less.
