PORTLAND, Ore. — The small Oregon city at the heart of a major U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year that allowed cities across the country to enforce homeless camping bans is facing a fresh lawsuit over its camping rules, as advocates find new ways to challenge them in a legal landscape shifted by the high court's decision.

Just months after receiving national attention as the plaintiff of a Supreme Court case over its homeless policies, the small southern Oregon city of Grants Pass is being now accused of forcing hundreds of homeless people into one small campsite.

Oregon cities say they’re trying to meet the state’s housing goals - but need help building the infrastructure required to add new residents.

Last week, a new Grants Pass city council closed the larger of two city-owned properties that had been designated as sanctioned campsites for homeless people.
