The Supreme Court's new term begins Monday with a handful of important cases set to be heard and the possibility that the justices will be asked to get involved in election disputes.

The Supreme Court added cases for its term starting Monday, including a lawsuit by Mexico seeking to hold U.S. gun makers liable for violence in that country.

The justices will consider whether a 2005 law that gives gun makers broad immunity applies in the case, which accuses them of complicity in supplying cartels with weapons.

The U.S. Supreme Court is set on Monday to begin its new nine-month term that has cases on issues including guns, gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors, online pornography, federal regulatory powers involving nuclear waste storage and vape products,

The justices have one major case on transgender medical care on their docket and others pending on gender-identity issues in schools.
