A woman ringing in the new year was treated to some fireworks alongside an amazing natural phenomenon at the same time.
Fireworks were set off from Auckland's iconic Sky Tower as the clock struck midnight in the city - 18 hours before the ball drop in New York's Times Square.
It was followed by New Zealand an hour later - with fireworks launched from the Sky Tower in Auckland as part of a spectacular light show. Image: Fireworks at the Sky Tower in Auckland.
