California Wildfire Map Update Shows How Every Fire Burning Has Spread
As of Thursday afternoon, six active wildfires are burning in Southern California, and maps shared on the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) website show how each one has grown. At least 28 people have died in the Los Angeles area since multiple wildfires erupted, and thousands of people have fled their homes.

The largest of the blazes, the Palisades Fire, is more than 37 square miles. That’s more than half the land size of Washington, D.C. A second fire, the Eaton Fire, is now more than 22 square miles. The Palisades Fire threatens thousands of structures inside the fire’s perimeter.
