New Britain native and UConn alum George Springer has been on a heater– and on Monday, the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder was named American League Player of the Week.

The Toronto Blue Jays have rapidly found their form over the course of the last month, and George Springer has been one of the crucial components to that.

For the sixth time in his MLB career, former UConn baseball standout George Springer has been named the American League Player of the Week. Springer, 35, slashed .429/.500/.964 with five home runs, 13 RBIs, and nine runs scored over the last week. He had multiple hits in five games and had a pair games in which he hit two home runs.
