Evacuation orders and warnings have gone into effect for burn scar areas across Southern California as heavy rainfall threatens dangerous debris flows.

A powerful storm fueled by an atmospheric river is drenching California, triggering evacuation orders and flood warnings.

Precipitation types will vary this weekend, likely starting with snow Saturday morning, shifting to rain Saturday afternoon and night, then switching back to snow as the cold air moves in on Sunday afternoon.

Northern New Jersey could get 2 to 4 inches of snow before a switch to a wintry mix. Heavy rain is expected Sunday.

It will remain dry until late Saturday morning before the first round of rain starts. This could be heavy at times. There is likely going to be a break in the rain late in the day, but heading past midnight rain returns for most of Sunday morning.
