Hurricane Helene caused dozens of deaths and billions of dollars of destruction across a wide swath of the southeastern U.S. as it raced through, and more than 3 million customers went into the weekend without any power and for some a continued threat of floods.

Meanwhile, more than 400 roads remain closed in Western North Carolina.

The storm that has caused floods and cyclones in several states caused $15 billion to $26 billion in property damage, Moody’s Analytics said.

Helene has torn through the Southeast, killing at least four dozen people, in what a North Carolina county official called the "most significant natural disaster" the region has experienced in recent years.
