Mikaela Shiffrin suffered an abrasion near her hip and said there was "not really too much cause for concern" after crashing at an Alpine skiing World Cup giant slalom in Killington, Vermont, on Saturday.

Shiffrin, World Cup skiing's all-time wins leader, was in first place after the first run but ended the second in a ski patrol sled. Her condition and status for Sunday's slalom were unknown.

The Vermont-schooled Olympian aimed to make Alpine skiing history at the international racing circuit’s Thanksgiving weekend stop in the Green Mountain State. The “boilerplate ice” course had other plans.
