HD video calling is enabled by default on Wi-Fi but can be turned on for calls using your cell data plan in the “Call settings” menu. You’ll also find options to adjust noise cancellation or switch your call’s audio output. Meta says it’s giving users the ability to leave voice or video messages as well.

Meta has rolled out an update for Messenger, introducing HD video calls, AI-generated backgrounds, and enhanced messaging options. These new features aim to elevate the app’s video and audio calling experience while adding convenience for users across platforms.

To make an audio or video call on Facebook Messenger, click the Messenger icon in the feed on the top right. Open a conversation with the person or group you wish to call. Then, select either the audio (phone) icon or the video (camcorder) icon in the top corner of the chat window to start the call.
