Arshdeep Singh was temporarily the most expensive Indian player bought at the IPL auction ever, for now, as Punjab Kings executed their 'Right to Match' card for the India left-arm pacer and bought him home for Rs 18 crore on Day 1 of IPL 2025 Mega Auction on Sunday.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up for a powerful run in IPL 2025 with a revamped squad, helmed by new head coach Ricky Ponting. After retaining core players Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, PBKS strategically utilized their substantial INR 110.

Punjab Kings had only retained two players ahead of the auction and both of them were uncapped. In the run up to the auction, the Punjab franchise also brought in Ricky Ponting as their head coach. In the auction, they have tried to buy some good Indian players alongside trusted overseas names.
