Ireland is set to go under red, orange and yellow rain and wind warnings as Storm Bert hits the country. The warnings have kicked in with severe flooding, damage and risk to life expected in parts of the country.

Dozens of flood warnings and alerts remain in place across England on Sunday as disruption from Storm Bert continues in many parts of the UK. A man in his 60s died on Saturday after a tree hit his car near Winchester, while a number of homes were flooded in counties Down and Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

People in communities across the north have rallied to support one another despite Storm Bert causing ‘devastating’ flooding to homes over the weekend.

Clean-up operations are underway after Storm Bert swept across the island of Ireland, causing flooding and thousands of power outages.

Storm Bert will bring “much wetter and windier” weather to Ireland over the coming days. An advisory has been issued for Ireland, together with a nationwide yellow wind and rain warning for Friday night, November 22 into Saturday, November 23 which Met Éireann says will be the start of Storm Bert.

Rail passengers in the north of England are being urged to check before they travel in the aftermath of Storm Bert. Northern said services between Workington and Lancaster were still unable to run in either direction due to flooding in the Ulverston area.

A safari park has closed for a second day as Storm Bert continues to batter parts of the West. Longleat in Wiltshire had hoped to reopen on Sunday but said it would remain closed due to damage caused overnight.
