Snow flurries fall around North Texas as extreme cold warning continues
We were lucky to not have many issues on the roads due to winter precipitation from our arctic front. But the big talker was the lake effect snow – take a look at some of the snowfall totals provided by the National Weather Service out of Fort Worth.

If you are not near a lake, this snow is not lake effect. The light "snow drizzle" is actually coming from snow grains developing at the base of a temperature inversion. In this case, it is an elevated shallow layer of warm, humid air sitting on top of cold, dry air we feel at the surface.
Snow continues to fall across North Texas on Wednesday
The snow falling across North Texas is dry and fine, so it won't stick on the roads, but be aware of possible black ice. Unfortunately, it isn't snowman making snow.
Lake-effect snow flurries seen in parts of North Texas Wednesday
Lake-effect snow is most common near the Great Lakes, but while rare in North Texas, it can happen here too. Lake-effect snow was expected to be possible in areas south and southeast of the larger North Texas lakes, such as Lake Lewisville or Lake Ray Hubbard.
UPDATE: North Texas under a winter weather advisory until early Wednesday, says the NWS
The NWS Fort Worth TX issued a winter weather advisory at 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday valid from 5 p.m. until Wednesday midnight. The advisory is for Grayson, Fannin, Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Dallas, Johnson and Ellis counties.
