Veteran Channel 11 News Anchor David Johnson has announced his retirement from the WPXI News desk, following a distinguished 40-year career with the station.

WPXI announced that veteran news anchor David Johnson, 67, will retire from Channel 11 effective Dec. 13. Johnson, who joined the station in January 1985, currently anchors the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts on WPXI and the 6:30 and 10 p.

WPXI’s David Johnson has announced he is retiring from channel 11. Johnson made the announcement on Facebook Monday morning, saying his last day will be December 13.

The Cox Media Group-owned NBC affiliate serving Western Pennsylvania is preparing for a big change on its 5pm, 6pm and 11pm newscasts. On December 13, a 40-year veteran of the station's news team will depart the station.
