So exit Belichick, enter Mayo, and despite the fact he matched Belichick's 4-13 record last season, Mayo met the same fate Sunday because losing is always the symptom.
While many assumed that Mayo would get a second season with the Patriots, the team has continued its downward spiral since its Week 14 bye, causing a "shift" in the organization over the last month.

The Patriots still have officially fired only Mayo, and Kraft said the new coach will decide what to do with this season’s last year’s staff.
