The Republican senator was arrested by Georgia state police as he was trying to enter the state House chamber. Moore says he's not backing down.

Two weeks after his arrest outside the Georgia House of Representatives chamber, state Senator Colton Moore has been allowed back in. Channel 2′s Richard Elliot was at the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday where Moore was let back inside without having to give an apology.

Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns announced Friday afternoon that with the blessing of former Speaker David Ralston’s family, State Sen. Colton Moore will be allowed back into the House chamber.

The state senator had been subject to a ban from the House chamber over previous disparaging remarks about late House speaker David Ralston.

Senator Colton Moore, of Dade County, was arrested on Thursday after he defied the order of Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns that he would not be allowed in for a joint legislative session in Atlanta.

A Georgia state senator and hardline supporter of President-elect Trump appeared to be pushed to the floor before being arrested while trying to enter the state House chamber on Thursday.

Burns announced Friday afternoon that he would modify the ban to allow Moore, a Trenton Republican, to attend proceedings in the House when members of both chambers are present, such as when lawmakers heard from the governor Thursday.

Moore was previously banned from the house for making disparaging remarks about Former Speaker David Ralston, who died in 2022.

There are probably a handful of people in this area who had heard of State Senator Colton Moore before last week. Admittedly I was one of them. However, the number of people who know about him has increased multiple times after his arrest for simply trying to do his job as an elected office from Northwest Georgia.
