Florida Panthers goaltender Spencer Knight may be turning a corner. The youngster looked incredibly strong during Florida’s 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.
SUNRISE — The big question being asked Friday night as the Florida Panthers played the Penguins was, how good is Spencer Knight in a shootout? Um…probably pretty good? It was hard to say.
The Panthers took the lead with 11:12 left in regulation on a Matthew Tkachuk power-play goal on his first shift after spending 12 minutes in the penalty box due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and a 10-minute misconduct stemming from a scrum in the Panthers’ offensive zone late in the second period.
Anton Lundell scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the visiting Florida Panthers to a 2-1 win against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Jesper Boqvist scored and Spencer Knight made 25 saves for the Panthers, who snapped a two-game skid (0-1-1).
Hockey. Outdoors. In Florida. Next season, the NHL is making it happen twice. The NHL announced Wednesday that the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers will play host to the New York Rangers at loanDepot Park in Miami on Jan.
Knight stopped 29 of 31 shots in Friday's 3-2 shootout win over the Penguins. Knight received the start after sitting on the bench in Florida's last two games and delivered a solid showing, allowing just two goals in regulation and stopping both shots faced during the shootout.
