The New York Islanders went into the 4 Nations break on a losing note and came out of the break on one, falling 4-3 to the Dallas Stars on Sunday night at UBS Arena. The loss was the Islanders’ third straight regulation defeat, the first time since Dec. 29, 2024 – Jan. 2, 2025 the Isles had dropped three consecutive games.

The Stars scored two power-play goals after Casey Cizikas drew a match penalty. Anthony Duclair's goal midway through the third period pulled the Islanders within 4-3, but Jean-Gabriel Pageau's apparent tying goal was waved off for goalie interference.

Oettinger will get the second half of Dallas' back-to-back after Casey DeSmith plays in Saturday's road matchup versus New Jersey. The Washington Capitals, who had no one at 4 Nations, took down Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins 8-3. The Dallas Stars, who had three players participate, defeated the New Jersey Devils, who had four players at the tournament, by a score of 4-2.
