Update: Western portion of NY Thruway closed, commercial vehicle ban expands due to lake effect snow
A portion of the state Thruway, also called Interstate 90, is closed near the western border with Pennsylvania as heavy lake effect snow keeps falling Friday evening. As of about 5:30 p.m., the westbound side of the Thruway was closed from Exit 57 at Hamburg, according to the state authority.
