The UK is braced for another winter storm to hammer the British isles with swathes of the country due to be bombarded by the white stuff, with snow set to fall across England, Wales and Scotland

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in parts of Scotland on Saturday, December 7, with the cold weather set to spread to other parts of the UK

Storm Bert continues to bring widespread destruction to communities across the UK as more than 200 flood warnings and alerts remain in place. Wales saw severe winds and flooding over the weekend, with homes left underwater and roads resembling rivers. Welsh first minister Eluned Morgan said the storm has been “absolutely devastating”.

THE Met Office has activated nine weather warnings, including two amber warnings, as Storm Bert batters the nation. Virtually every area of the country is covered by alerts for snow, rain or ice.

“Storm Bert marks a shift to much milder air and wintry hazards will gradually diminish through the weekend, but heavy snowfall is expected across parts of northern England and Scotland for a time on Saturday, especially over higher ground, and warnings are in place,” Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Dan Holley said.
