Australia's stand-in skipper for the Sri Lanka Test tour, Steve Smith, has suffered an elbow injury ahead of the two-match series.

Steve Smith, Australia's Test captain, is dealing with an elbow injury but is expected to attend the pre-tour camp in Dubai.

Smith sustained an injury to his right elbow whilst throwing in the field for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League on Friday, with the game being eventually rained out against Sydney Thunder.
