Yankees can win trade deadline

The Yankees’ trade deadline search for a third baseman has mostly centered on big names—Eugenio Suárez, Ryan McMahon, Ke’Bryan Hayes. But CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa floated a name that won’t light up your Twitter feed... yet makes a lot of sense.
The New York Yankees need a new third baseman after letting DJ LeMahieu go and moving Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base. While Eugenio Suárez would be ideal, there is another player who makes sense.
Of most immediate concern is the status of Max Fried’s blister. The Yankees are going nowhere if they don’t have Fried atop their rotation, but it is still not clear whether the left-hander will need an IL stint because of the blister issue that popped up in Saturday’s start and has cost him time in the past.
The Yankees’ bullpen ERA ranks 20th in the majors (4.08), and it’s not hard to see why. Mark Leiter Jr. is out with a stress fracture, Fernando Cruz is still sidelined, and Jonathan Loaisiga hasn’t looked right since spring. Devin Williams hasn’t locked down the ninth the way the Yankees hoped.
A few guesses on the home run race, the trade deadline and a surprising regular season finish for the Yankees.
