PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury today announced the signing and return of two-time WNBA Champion forward DeWanna Bonner. In a corresponding roster move, Mercury forward Murjanatu Musa has been waived.
Her best season with the Mercury was in 2012, when she averaged 20.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals. While there is a chance that Bonner joins the Mercury, time is running out.
Reports indicated Bonner might end up with the Phoenix Mercury or Atlanta Dream, but nothing has happened yet. A key deadline is approaching, though, which could push Bonner into making a decision.
Beyond scoring, Bonner has been lauded for her versatility, defensive prowess and leadership, earning All‑Defensive, All‑WNBA and two WNBA titles during her time with the Mercury.
At first, it seemed as though Bonner would return to her old stomping ground, the Phoenix Mercury. However, other teams are looking to potentially snatch up her talents.
