Metro Nashville Police is investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Donelson Pike Tuesday. Police were called to the scene around 11:15 a.m. A spokesperson with Metro Nashville Police Department said the victim appeared to be male.

Police said the man hit was identified as 31-year-old Johnathan Morales. He died on the scene after being hit by the RV. Police did not say why Morales was on the highway at the time of the crash.

The mother of the man hit on Intestate 40 is sharing what she knows about the night he died on the roadway as a pedestrian.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed on Interstate 40 East on Tuesday morning. According to police, 22-year-old Austin S. David, of Mt. Juliet, was killed after he was struck between the Donelson Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike exits.

The westbound lanes on a section of Interstate 40 West in Greensboro are currently shut down due to a “police investigation”, according to the Greensboro Police Department. Traffic on I-40 West is currently being rerouted onto Exit 210 for Regional Road/NC 68 Around three miles of the westbound I-40 is closed

The 22-year-old was walking alongside the right side of the interstate when he was hit.
