Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, who won a Stanley Cup with the 2020 Tampa Bay Lightning, is retiring after 14 NHL seasons. Shattenkirk made the announcement in a statement issued by the NHL Players’ Association on Tuesday.

Kevin Shattenkirk retired from the NHL on Tuesday after 14 seasons. The 35-year-old defenseman had 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 61 regular-season games for the Boston Bruins last season and one assist in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.

After 14 seasons in the NHL ranks, Kevin Shattenkirk is hanging up his skates. Shattenkirk announced his retirement via social media on Tuesday evening, with the playmaking defenseman’s final stop in the pro ranks coming with the Bruins during the 2023-24 season.
