US mortgage rates slip lower, their third consecutive week of declines as Freddie Mac reports 30-year fixed-rate mortgages ticked down to 6.60% from 6.69% from the week prior. The current mortgage rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage fell by 0.03 percentage point in the last week to 7.05%, according to Curinos. Meanwhile, the APR on a 15-year fixed mortgage dropped 0.05 percentage point during the same period to 6.

After sinking most of the last three weeks and dipping to a 7-week low, 30-year mortgage rates have ticked up slightly. Rates moved higher for many other loan types as well.

There's no easy way to say it: it was a bad week for mortgage rates.  Actually, it was a bad week for interest rates in general and mortgage rates typically follow the rest of the rate market.
