The Texas House on Thursday filed a sweep of education bills including public school finance and school voucher proposals.

Families participating in the program could receive about 85% of the amount public schools collect for each attending student from the state and local sources.

Education is a major focus of the Texas Legislature this year, from teacher pay and training to tuition support for private education and homeschooling. The bill would require the state to reduce the test’s length, prioritize post-secondary preparation and launch a revamped version by 2026.
