A well-traveled veteran who was probably the best Yankee reliever not named Mariano Rivera for a point in time over the last two decades, former flamethrower Aroldis Chapman will wind down his MLB career about 200 miles north of the Bronx and take his talents to New York's bitter rivals in Boston.

The Boston Red Sox began what they hope is a winter of extensive upgrades by agreeing to a one-year, $10.75 million contract with lefty reliever Aroldis Chapman. A person familiar with the deal confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that Chapman and Boston were in agreement.
