The White House has announced it is seizing control of which news outlets will be in the “pool” – the small group of journalists who cover President Donald Trump in tight spaces like Air Force One or the Oval Office – from the independent White House Correspondents’ Association.

The White House’s move to take control of which outlets participate in the press pool is a break from a century of tradition with the White House Correspondents’ Association.
