A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of our area between the overnight into early Tuesday morning. Freezing rain will make for some icy, dicey travel first thing Tuesday morning.

In Montreal, freezing rain is expected around 8 or 9 a.m., according to Environment Canada meteorologist Jean-Philippe Bégin.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Quebec starting Tuesday morning into early afternoon. Freezing rain is expected to start on Tuesday morning, and could persist for many hours. Environment Canada cautioned that highways, roads, sidewalks, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Colder conditions north of town mean a rain-snow mix in Eagle River, with only snow expected in the Mat-Su Borough.

A freezing rain warning is in effect for Muskoka, with slippery roads and power outages possible. Environment Canada expects the freezing rain to hit Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and surrounding areas late Monday evening into early Tuesday morning.

Winter weather is officially on the way for parts of Quebec and Ontario, where freezing rain and snow are in the forecast this week.

It’s not officially winter until Dec. 21 but Ontario residents can expect snowy weather this week. While snow is forecast for the Mississauga, Brampton and GTA this week, parts of Ontario are bracing for heavy snow or freezing rain.

Then, colder air and winds from the northwest are expected to arrive by midday Tuesday, which will create the potential for lake-effect snow to the east of Georgian Bay, in places around Parry Sound, Gravenhurst and Bracebridge, as well as in the Bruce Peninsula, impacting Bruce and Grey counties.
