Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are suggesting the country stop its biannual ritual of falling back and springing forward – advocating a permanent end to time changes in a move that has garnered broad support in the past.

Sen. Marco Rubio has been at the forefront of trying to “lock the clock,” as he puts it. He has introduced legislation to try to make daylight saving time permanent. It’s called the Sunshine Protection Act and he reintroduced in 2023. Congress hasn’t passed the bill.

The “Department of Government Efficiency” may target the century-old practice, the men suggested on social media. It was not immediately clear whether they were serious.
