It’s a “Severance” world. The Apple TV+ series dominated this year’s Emmy nominations with 27 nods, and despite the show’s critical and ratings acclaim, Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast hosts were still taken aback.

Severance” separated itself from the field with 27 Emmy nominations, while “The Studio” led comedy nominees with 23 in a dominant year for Apple TV+.
Severance was the most recognized show during the 2025 Emmy nominations followed by The Penguin, The Studio and The White Lotus.
The show’s star, Noah Wyle, has five Emmy nominations to his name from his days on that other medical drama he once starred in, ER, but honestly, he hit a new level of performance with The Pitt. Though he never won for ER, and he might not win here, given the competition, his performance is riveting, heartfelt, and most importantly, real.
