President Donald Trump, on Monday, issued formal notices to 14 different countries, informing their leaders that the United States will impose new blanket tariffs on their goods starting August 1. The letters,

The letters listed a range of tariffs. Goods entering the U.S. from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Tunisia will be subject to a 25 percent levy. There will be a 30 percent levy on South African and Bosnian goods, while imports from Indonesia will be subject to a 32 percent rate.

Trump said Tuesday there would be “no extensions” granted to the new August 1 deadline for U.S. trading partners to negotiate new deals or face higher tariffs on goods imported from their countries.
