Seagate External Hard Drive won't open or run on Surface Laptop 3
Jun 3, 2020 · My Seagate external hard drive (backup plus slim) won't open or show up on my new surface laptop 3. It opens on other laptops both PC and Macs. I get this small usb icon (next too the battery symbol)- when I click on it it gives me 2 options: ejecting the drive or going to "Devices and Printers" and through there I can't open it either.

I have to restart my computer to get it to recognize it again. This is a brand new Dell computer. Also, Windows will not eject the drive, showing message it is still in use and to close any programs that are using the drive before removal. That's with no programs running and the drive is idle. The drive is a Seagate Backup Plus portable hard drive. Disk passes diagnostic tests.
