Winchester Model 70 Leupold mounts/rings - Hunt Talk
Apr 8, 2020 · I've got a VX-5 HD with a 44mm bell on it, but am unsure what scope ring height to get. I'm getting the QRW2 rings for sure. I just prefer to store my scopes separately from my rifles. When doing a search on the Leupold website using their "mount finder" tool, it tells me I need the high rings with the 2pc Weaver style bases.

Feb 14, 2018 · Scope: VX5HD 3-15x44 Rifle: X-bolt Hunter 7mm-08 Leveled the rifle. Placed quarters on the X-covers and (carefully) balanced scope on quarters until the bell clears the front. Only 4 quarters for that. But for the bolt to clear the eye piece and zoom ring, I need 7 at the back. That means: 0.069*4 quarters = 0.2760 0.069*7 quarters = 0.4830 (rear)

May 17, 2019 · As for scope height, that all depends on you. Needs to be high enough for clearance, but you need a clear straight on view throught it. There are ring height finders online, Vortex may have one. I use low Vortex Viper rings with my 4-20X50 Sightron STAC. But i'm using an EGW 20 MOA one piece base. EGW bases are kinda tall.

Feb 21, 2016 · I just set up my new gun and scope combo a month ago. I got the Xbolt Hells canyon speed in 300wsm. Since I was putting on a Leupold i went with leupold mounts and rings. My scope was a 50mm so I had to use the high rings as the mediums were just a shade too short. The setup fits me perfectly for cheek fit and eye relief.
Scope mounting recommendations for Browning X Bolt Long Range
Oct 18, 2012 · On the short action I just used the Talley lows for xbolts with the 4 bolt pattern. Love it but it is very tight clearance between the bell and barrel. On the long action I had to use a rail with some lower rings. I couldn’t get the eye relief close enough with that long bell on the scope. The front ring overhangs the ejection port some. YMMV.

Nov 10, 2023 · Stack a few pennies on the action where the rings would bolt to and add them up while someone holds the scope and pennies in place while you look down the scope. Add/remove until you get comfortable and as low as you can. Then measure the height of the pennies and compare it to some rings you’re purchasing.

Nov 15, 2019 · The is the best advice I've seen compiled, imo: Scope Mounting to Maintain Zero It may seem excessively detailed, but I feel that it's worth it. Talley's are good, I have the DNZ one piece on my kids gun, right now I use a bedded Seekins rail and ARC rings. The Sportsmatch come highly recommended. As far as height it's just a bit of math.

Jan 30, 2019 · Scope ring height is whatever matches the shooter. Low will usually work with 40mm. An ABolt would be a fairly old rifle. They have matte and polished situations on the bolt. Then there was the ABolt II that had a bolt with flat faces. The AB3 is the current econo model. Which one do you have?
