May 7, 2020 · Quite often, you will loosely put the scope in the rings and slide it around, trying to get the right eye relief and position. Whenever you do this, you will get some loose paint dust or material off the scope and rings between the scope tube and rings. That stuff acts like a lubricant, and will allow the scope to move in the rings.

Re: What height rings on an AR? I use XTR 1"/Xtra High rings for a Weaver 1.5-4.5x24 and it is the perfect height. Clears the rear sight and good cheek weld. It places the center of the tube approx. 1.5 " above the rail. The negative is with the scopes eye relief, I could use a bit more forward placement which the Larue would provide.
